SOLD The Arts and Crafts Movement was a British, Canadian, Australian and American design movement which flourished between 1880 and 1910. Instigated by the artist and writer William Morris in the 1860s and inspired by the writings of John Ruskins. It influenced architecture, domestic design and decorative arts, using simple forms and medieval style of decoration.
Primarily started as a search for authentic and meaningful styles for the 19th century it advocated truthin materials, traditional craftsmanship and economic reform.

At the beginning of 2010 Allison Steele of Lords Estate Agents in Surbiton took instructions on a well proportioned family home which was built in 1907 to The Arts and Crafts Style.
"OurClients have lived here for sixteen years and during this time havetaken careto retain and restoremany of the splendid original period features whilst improving the house dramatically. An extremely sympathetic loft conversion combined with a single storey extension and bespoke conservatory to the rear has improved the overall accommodation to modern family expectations. Whilst hand blocked William Morris wallpaper enhances the ambience and 'sets off' the magnificent fireplaces and other character features," says Allison
This wonderful family home is ideally situated approximately fifteen minutes from Kingston and twelve minutes from Surbiton Station with its excellent fast service into London, Waterloo. For more information, CLICK HERE
