A Very Pretty Picture!

In the early 1990’s Lords sold a beautiful detached period property in a quiet cul de sac adjacent to Richmond Park on behalf of an elderly couple who had lived in the house for almost 50 years. Lords also helped the couple move to a comfortable and more manageable bungalow on the slopes of Coombe Hill.

The couple, Mr and Mrs Chudleigh, were very sad to be leaving the home in which their family had grown up and which held so many special memories, so Lords commissioned a painting of their house to take with them to their new home.

Regrettably, Mr and Mrs Chudleigh died within a few short short months of each other in 2005. Lords were asked by the Chudleigh family to sell the bungalow in Matlock Way, New Malden and in pride of place above the fireplace was the painting that Lords had commissioned years earlier. John Chudleigh, the son of the original owner, felt it would be appropriate for the painting to be returned to the original property which is now owned by Sports Presenter, John Inverdale.

Guy Hodge, Managing Director of Lords Estate Agents, arranged a meeting between the two and John Inverdale took possession of the painting at Lords local office in Kingston (pictured).

“I am delighted that the painting is going back to its original home.” said Guy Hodge, “The painting was a very special gesture for a very special elderly couple” he added “and if we can ever persuade Mr Inverdale to move, I am sure we could persuade him to leave the painting to the next owner!”
